ABC’s Long Island Viewpoint: The John Brower Jr Foundation

The John Brower Jr Foundation was created in June of 2015 when Vanderbilt Advisors, John and Robert Brower, decided to create a foundation to spread awareness to the opiate abuse epidemic on Long Island. John and Jody Brower lost their son, John Jr., to an overdose after he had became addicted to painkillers due to a prescription he was given to cope with surgeries after a car accident. Vanderbilt Advisor, Robert Brower, along with his sister Kristen took to the internet to memorialize their brother on social media which led to the creation of the foundation.

The John Brower Jr Foundation had an extremely impressive first year of service, education, and community support. Over the course of one year, the foundation held a walk for over 400 people, raised over $40,000, and were featured on many news outlets which all helped to spread awareness to opiate abuse and save lives.
